Share the veterinary facts first
State the pet, condition or event, date, veterinarian's advice, urgent deadline, and documents available. Separate confirmed information from fear or speculation.
Define the decision or update
Say whether you need consent, cost sharing, records, pickup, a visit, or simply believe they should know. Do not make access to the pet conditional on discussing the relationship.
Use the existing ownership agreement
Follow written arrangements, registration, insurance, and local law. If welfare or ownership is disputed, use veterinary, mediation, or qualified legal channels instead of removing the animal secretly.
